Domain Name Overview

In relation to website design and hosting Domain Names are the address of your website e.g. www.puafo.com, these address allow people to get to your website, behind the scenes these domain names have a number (IP address) this number is pointed/directed to a web hosting server so the domain name knows where send people to view the website.

What plan does my site need?

A brochure website typically needs a 250mb plan ($9.95 a month) as they are small in size and content is change infrequently so it becomes cached on peoples computers reducing the amount of data you use.

An Ecommerce (Online Shopping) website typically needs a 10000mb plan ($19.95 a month) to start and as the website get busier upgrade to a larger plan, they will also need the SQL database add on ($9.95 a month) to hold all the products and settings for the website.

An CMS based website site typically needs a 250mb plan ($9.95 a month) because it is similar in the way it works to a brochure site but you control the content, they will also need the SQL database add on ($9.95 a month) to hold all the information for the website.

How do I update my own site?

You will need a SFTP program like Globalscape CuteFTP or FileZilla (Free), we give you an address, a username and password and you can update your site to your hearts content.

Please note: you will need an understanding of markup language and the code language that your website is written in to confidently make changes, if you make changes to your site and we need to correct any issues you may be charged for our time.
